Mocking Jesus of Nazareth is nothing new. Whether it is today’s Lady Gaga or a “Hunky Jesus” contest in San Francisco, Jesus has been the subject of ridicule by those who do not know Him.
Today’s mockers would never dare to speak ill of Muhammed. They might have their throats slit, or their homes blown-up.
Jesus is always a safe target, because His followers are unlikely...

You know that question about if you could invite 3 people to a dinner party dead or alive, who would it be? John Waters will always be on my list.

Still Trying to Refocus
Politics maybe? I spend enough time ranting about it. My roommate would probably appreciate if I had an outlet for that. Or is politics just absolutely talked to death without my added 2 cents?
This time last year I had just started my adventure in Suomi. Alas, I am stateside, as I have been for a while now, and I really need a new focus and a new title.
I guess we’ll see what I start...

Interesting Angle on Tax Cuts, the Economy, and... →
Should this Creative Writing degree I’m pursuing ever lead me to a higher-than-average tax bracket, I want to be taxed accordingly—none of this tax cuts for the wealthy bullshit. Those who have should always be looking to aid those that have less—paying more in taxes is just one way to help fellow citizens and society.

So Much for the "Don't Retreat--Reload" Rhetoric,...
The events in Arizona today were absolutely horrifying and tragic, and I’d like to take this opportunity to underscore, for anyone who ever doubted, that violent rhetoric really can lead to physical violence.
Maybe if leaders like Sarah Palin were more careful about the visual and linguistic rhetoric they chose, mentally-disturbed individuals wouldn’t find violent inspiration in their...

2010 May Be The Best Year Yet
2010 was a damn good year and it will certainly be hard to live up to. Here’s a recap:
I got to live and study in beautiful Helsinki, Finland.
I finally had a real winter with snow and everything.
I saw the Northern Lights. and the pyramids. and Lenin. (Yep. His actual, preserved person.)
I learned how to cook.
I traveled north of the Arctic Circle, south of the Tropic of Cancer, and...

Back From Hiatus
I’ve been away from Tumblr for awhile. After coming back to the US I haven’t really known what to do with this thing. If Stephanie is no longer in Suomi, I can’t very well have my Stephanie in Suomi blog. (Love it though I may.) So I’m going to work on repurposing this thing. It might be rocky at first, but I suppose I’ll figure out what it is I have to say. ...

Current Location: Home. DFW. Specifically Plano, Texas. Current Condition: So sick, it’s re-goddamn-diculous.I even went to the doctor, that level of sick. Only to be told it’s probably a virus—let it do it’s thing. Except that I have a million things to do! Oh, and, best part. When I went to pick up the prescription I got just for good measure (yay USA!) I found out my...

More Details Later
When I was in Dublin, there was a bank holiday. Then, yesterday, boyfriend and I stumbled upon an air show by the British air force in celebration of the queen’s birthday. Seriously. It is unreal how many national holidays I’ve hit.

What’s tomorrow? AN ITALIAN NATIONAL HOLIDAY. This is getting ridiculous.
